Task: Students will recreate a miniature model of one section of their store’s selling area (i.e. the place where your customers will mainly be). This excludes areas such as kitchens, storage areas, offices, washrooms, and change rooms.
Students will have three full classes to work on the shoebox assignment. The shoebox is due at the beginning of the fourth class.
Failure to bring the shoebox or minimal supplies will result in sitting out.
Materials: The teacher will not supply any materials for the shoebox project, except for three sheets of construction paper. Students are required to bring most but not all of the materials listed below. They may borrow, trade or purchase materials that they do not have from other groups.
Each group needs to bring the following materials for the shoebox project:
- Scissors or box-cutter
- Glue and tape (glue gun okay)
- Construction paper
- Pencil crayons, felt pens, paint
- Popsicle sticks, toothpicks, pipe cleaner
- Money (coins)
Evaluation: The shoeboxes will be compared to other shoeboxes from other classes and be marked holistically based on visual design and layout. The total possible marks is 20.
